Our Story
An Honest Beginning
Our story started in the ’80s where our founders, husband and wife, began selling homemade egg rolls and pineapple tarts. These soon became popular with more and more orders coming in. Coupled with positive responses, a growing customer base and an optimistic outlook, our founders decided to form a food trading company.
Thus began the story of YLF. To meet the growing demand for our baked goods, we ventured into semi-auto production as well as launched our first commercial products under the brand name IKO – a range of healthy oat-based cookies. This was unprecedented as there was no other similar product in the market at that time.
We continued to delight our customers with more biscuit varieties and flavours. Soon it was time for another expansion and we invested in fully automated lines for mass production, joining the ranks of other top confectionary companies, and producing delicious biscuits made from quality ingredients as well as exporting them to other countries.
We were the first in Malaysia to introduce sugar-free crackers, and new flavours like jam sandwich biscuits and jam tartlet cookies as well as all-time favourites under our brand ORI. We also launched Twinbow, our baked-to-order series. Twinbow was in fact the brand name our founders first used to sell their festive handmade cookies.
At YLF, we take our biscuits seriously. For years we have tinkered and toyed with countless recipes to create the perfect biscuit that is delicious and nutritious. Today, people in over 30 countries around the world enjoy our biscuits. Despite our success locally and internationally, we consistently sought to improve and add value to our products, all while continuing to be inspired by our founders’ entrepreneurship spirit fueled by creativity and dedication for quality. It is what we believe in – good food is life.
